The most vocal human rights groups

In the world we live in today, respect for human rights have become a crucial part of our society. Long gone are the days when some people would treat others with contempt through slavery and other types of discrimination. However, although there are major strides that have been made to this area, there is are still pockets of cases that still exist.

This is the reason human rights groups do exist up to date. The role of the human rights groups is mostly to address issues of civil rights, migrants’ rights, and human rights.

There are numerous groups in the world. Almost every state in the world has a human rights group. In this article, we will look at a number of human rights organizations.

The coalition for Humane Immigrants’ Rights

Commonly known as CHIRLA, it is a group that fights for the rights of immigrants in the state of California. They ensure that immigrants’ families are accorded the rights they deserve and are not discriminated upon.

They ensure that the rights of all apply even to the immigrants. They also aim to change the opinion of the public while at the same time advocating for better human rights policies. CHIRLA was formed in 1986, following the enactment of the Immigration Reform and Control Act. Read more: Jim Larkin | Crunchbase and Jim Larkin |

The law stated that it is illegal to employ workers who were undocumented. This however created a loophole for people to misuse the rights of immigrants who may be undocumented.

ACLU Immigrants’ Rights Project

This is another group that is committed to fighting for the rights of people. They address issues of human rights and civil rights affecting the immigrants. To effect its responsibilities, ACLU does that through legislation and advocacy. The group is the largest in the United States in the category of legislation.

This group ensures that no immigrant is discriminated for whatever reason. They insist that the constitution is the supreme law and should be applied to all people regardless of one being an immigrant or not.

Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund

Lacey & Larkin Frontera Fund is an organization founded by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. They the same people who founded the Phoenix New Times.

Through this fund, they finance organizations that are dedicated to fighting for human rights, civil rights and migrants’ rights in today’s society. Their operations are based in the state of Arizona.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin were once victims of human rights discrimination. After their case, they were compensated by the courts after an arrest by a Sheriff. They decided to use some of the money to fund human rights groups that fight against such discriminatory arrests.

A New Worker’s Rights Law For Philly: Litigation Specialist Karl Heideck Shares His Perspective

The beginning of 2017 was looking bright for worker’s rights activists in the Philadelphia area. On January 23, Mayor Jim Kenney signed a new law that would make the city the first to prohibit inquiries from private sector employers about applicant salary histories. However, legal opposition to the law soon emerged from the Chamber of Commerce for Greater Philly.

The law, in part, was designed to help close the wage gap between men and women in Pennsylvania by forbidding employers from collecting job candidate salary data without permission and asking job applicants to share previous salaries, among others. Some experts speculate that the policy will mostly affect employers that are headquartered outside on the Philadelphia city limits, some of whom are likely to face fines of up to $2,000 for violating provisions.

These circumstances led to challenges from large conglomerate companies like Comcast Communications who filed a district court motion seeking a preliminary injunction on April 6th—just months before the law would have gone into effect. The city retaliated, however, with the filing of a motion to have the lawsuit dismissed on the ground that it failed to specify how the legislation would injure businesses—to which, the district court agreed.

George Soros Reappears on the Political Scene

George Soros is an 85-year-old hedge fund manager, philanthropist and political activist who emigrated from Hungary after World War II, and survived to become a multi-billionaire. Now, in his mid-80s, he is still politically aware and has recently re-entered the political scene. According to a story in Politico, Soros gave a large donation ($25 million) to backers of Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign, the first donation of that kind from him since he gave a donation in 2004 to fight the reelection of George W. Bush. There’s no doubt that Soros is a dedicated man who believes in a good political fight. According to Politico, Soros was quoted as saying that Donald Trump is “doing the work of ISIS.” Now with Trump actually in the white house, odds are that Soros will continue his fight for democratic values. Learn more about his profile at

The Clinton Campaign

George Soros has a long history with Hillary Clinton, and he fully expected her to become president. He had planned to actually attend the Democratic convention last summer, but ultimately was unable to attend. The upset victory of Trump has motivated many people politically, however, and it seems clear that Soros is one of them. With his background as an immigrant who found incredible success in the US, there’s no doubt his feeling about the tenor of the campaign run deep.

The fact of Soros giving a large donation to Clinton’s campaign is significant, as he has often been a catalyst for other large donors. With his history as a brilliant financier and entrepreneur, there’s no question that Soros is someone other leaders like to watch.

Will Soros stay in the political game for the long term? At age 85, it’s hard to say, but there’s no doubt George Soros is a man who should never be underestimated. Read more at The New York Times about George.
